May 14 PDM - The Next Revolution - SustainabilityWe will be holding our monthly Professional Development Meeting on Wednesday, May 14 at the Coast Bellevue Hotel featuring Gary Langenwalter. All APICS members will receive a copy of Gary's recent book; The Squeeze: A Novel Approach to Business Sustainability (a $25 value). There will also be books available for sale to non APICS members. Program DescriptionIn the last 40 years, two revolutions have swept through manufacturing: 1) IT (the MRP/ERP revolution), and 2) Lean/Quality (starting with Just-In-Time), including TOC. However, the world is rapidly and fundamentally changing – prices are soaring, materials are becoming scarce, and workers are becoming restive. Lean/Quality and ERP are essential, but no longer sufficient. How can a company not only survive, but thrive, during these next turbulent years? Learning ObjectivesRenowned expert Gary Langenwalter will explain the underlying interrelationships among seemingly disconnected events (local, national, and global), creating a road map that your company can use to create winning strategies and tactics. You’ll never look at resources the same way again. He will use data from the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, MIT, and Yale to show that companies that have engaged their employees and respected the environment have thrived, while those who haven’t have not done as well. All participants will receive a quick self-assessment guide to help them take these practical, proven principles back to their companies and get started. Bring your boss, your controller, your HR director, your director of engineering, and your director of sales and marketing, because this topic directly impacts the entire company, not just manufacturing/materials.
