June 18 PDM - Lean at Boeing Commercial Airplanes and in the Office
Speaker Bio:Don Crum is the Senior Manager of Cost Accounting Processes for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Don holds a BA in Accountancy from the University of Illinois. He has completed Carnegie-Mellon University’s Program for Executives in Industrial Management and is a Certified Public Accountant. Don was a Platoon Commander in the Marine Corps, an auditor with Haskins & Sells CPAs and has been the controller for several small manufacturing companies before joining Boeing. He joined Boeing as the cost accounting manager for the Boeing Wichita Company and led the establishment of a cost accounting system compliant with government Cost Accounting Standards. His career at Boeing also includes managing internal audit, financial statements and business planning organizations. He has been involved in a number of accounting system & process development and implementation projects. Over the last several years, Don has been instrumental in defining and implementing the early phases of Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ lean accounting journey. He has led a number of teams that have resulted in the elimination of significant amounts of transactions, drastically reduced closing schedules and eliminated significant process and system bottlenecks.
